Samuel was the son of Richard A. Flanagan & second wife Nancy Gwinn Flanagan. Nancy being the daughter of Moses Gwinn
(Born-1774) & Elizabeth Wilson. Richard A. & Nancy are buried in the Hilltop Cemetery at Hinton,WV along with
two of their son's. Richard's first wife was Mary Ellen Carey. She is buried in the
DeQuasie Cemetery on the Hump mountain. There is a informative write up on the family in the "History of Summers County, West Virginia".
Page 612-616 by James Henry Miller. According to the book, a son died (Samuel L. Flanagan) by a tree falling on him
accidently around what is called today, Lockbridge,WV. The boy Samuel could be the only one fitting this description. Not
to mention that Samueal appears in the 1850 census as Samuel L.
